First Full Day with Drug
Today is the first day that I took Midodrine twice. A full normal medicated day.
Overall I’ve felt better than I have recently. I don’t feel unstable.
I don’t feel like my body has acclimated to being medicated. The side-effects aren’t bad. Lots of tingling and a kind of electrical wave feeling that pulsates from the top of my head all the way down my legs. It’s kind of a good feeling actually.
I had lunch with Sharon at Baja Fresh and felt somewhat faint. It wasn’t very intense and passed after a short while. This was around five hours after I took the medication. I’m hoping that soon I can last longer than that without having these feelings.
I shrugged it off and felt better after about a half hour.
Sharon and I were going on errands pretty much the whole day. Every single one was for me. Sharon is absolutely amazing and I’m lucky that she’d spend her whole day doing that for me.
One of the stops we made was to Fry’s for some electronic components I needed for my Hobby Electronics course. While there I discovered this little blood pressure/pulse monitor. It was $40 so I decided to get it. I figured it might be good to see whether my symptoms had any relation to how my heart was behaving. Just to get a really good handle on my body’s metrics. Of course, I intend to listen to my body and how I feel.
Around 5:30 or so I took the second dose of the medicine. I was feeling pretty crappy at this point and my heart rate and blood pressure were getting low. It took awhile for the medicine to kick in this time. It felt longer than the previous two times I took it.
I made an appointment to see Dr. Jay Lee on February 3rd and submitted my questions to the office today. I should hear from them on Monday if not sooner.
I hope that I’ll be able eat spicy food and have Starbucks soon. Those are good feeling things.

The half life of your medication’s metabolites is 4 hours so it’s not too surprising that the effects diminish significantly after 5 hours.
I have a serious heart condition and since I am a bleeder cannot have any surgery. My primary dr. thought the steunt would not cause any bleeding, but he was wrong and my tummy filled up with blood–it was all purple from belly button to groin and on the right leg to the knee. Both your Uncle Don and my doctor thought I would not make it for another day–when I arrived at the doctor’s office he said I made his day! How he knew the blood ws going away slowly and not bursting open, I’ll never know. Your Aunt Grace told me he did peek at my tummy when I didn’t notice! Anyway–I will never be able to hve any surgery, but I do take 14 pills every morning! That keeps me going. But with all my visits to cardiologists no one ever mentioned your medicine or symptoms. Anyway I don’t think you are having any heart problems, but let me know what it is when you find out. Also I don’t think you need any Pacemaker. Anyhow I love you and want you to be well enough and when school is out come and visit me as your Dad and Jenny did.
It has been too long since I saw you–pan a trip to VT. somehow in your future, but not too long–I am getting old as your Dad must have told you. Get well quiick! Your granny
